PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.
The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.
The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.
However, the southern French side fired two times late to take a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.
In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.
From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.
Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
